The other day onTV Patrol, they featured the application/recruitment process in one call center – ours! They didn’t mention the name of the company but I recognized where the reporter was, and I know the trainer of the class she sat in with. The feature was actually about how less people are trying their luck at call centers these days, kahit na in this time of crisis, it is the call centers that continue to hire manpower.
Naalala ko tuloy my own experience applying at call centers. Seriously, nakakaiyak sya when you don’t get accepted. Kasi you put a lot of effort and spend your entire day there, and then they will just say: we’ll call and let you know the results. I remember applying in one specific call center and not getting accepted… And also how accomplished I felt getting accepted where I’ve been working now for over two years! The recruitment process here is really very stringent. You go in with a large group and only a handful reach the final interviews.
Now, I’m considered one of the top performers in our account because of consistently hitting metrics. This brings to mind a particularly funny conversation I had with vera a couple of weeks ago.
Badong: Pina-barge ako sa call ng prodigy ko. Feeling QC talaga ko, parang diyos, nakikinig. Pero nakikita ko talaga yung mga mali nyang ginagawa. (I was made to barge in to my prodigy’s calls. Felt like a QC, like a god listening. But I really could see what she was doing wrong)
Vera: Ha? Prodigy?
B: Yung inassign sakin from ABAY.
V: Protege, not prodigy!
